Kirsty Birnie

Kirsty is a soft tissue therapist and Pilates teacher. Although she works with a variety of clients, she has a special interest in scars and women's wellness. She has also attended a variety of CPD short courses and workshops to enhance her knowledge in women's health in both massage and Pilates based exercise. She provides pregnancy and postnatal massage, cancer massage, scar therapy and Pilates.

Many of Kirsty's clients had had cesareans and she was keen to learn about the implications of scars and how to treat them effectively. She trained in Sharon Wheeler's ScarWork and quickly became very passionate about working with scars. Kirsty loves how ScarWork can have such a huge impact helping people not only feel better physically but emotionally too. She works largely with breast cancer scars, cesarean, hysterectomy and other abdominal scars, but also has experience with burns, joints and facial scars.

As well as being part of the team at Hertford Physiotherapy, Kirsty works in a dedicated scar therapy clinic and also teaches her own small group Pilates classes in Hoddesdon, including specific classes for pregnancy and postnatal rehab.

Kirsty is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM).
