This is a development of our Community based work where we provide group exercise classes.
Evidence based falls prevention classes, or even one to one sessions can help to educate about falls prevention, the things to look out for and avoid, and teaching simple exercises to help people improve their balance. Increased awareness may not prevent all falls but if muscles and joints are stronger, the result is not so devastating.
Dorothy Toyn, who works in the community as well as in clinic, is leading this work. We have a weekly class in The St Andrew Centre (St Andrews church hall) every Thursday lunchtime.
