Acupuncture at Hertford Physiotherapy Practice
Acupuncture is a system of inserting fine needles into specific parts of the body (acupuncture points) in order to produce a desired medical effect. Although this may primarily be used for pain relief, other effects, such as the relief of nausea, are well documented.
Kathy has been practising acupuncture for many years. She is a member of AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and offers acupuncture in conjunction with the rest of her physiotherapy practice.
There is an increasing amount of literature supporting the efficacy of acupuncture and NICE (the National Institution for Clinical Excellence) agree that it is useful in the treatment of some common conditions including low back pain and age related knee pain.
Kathy has also had considerable success treating patients suffering from poor sleep, hay fever, sinusitis or stress.
Acupuncture is a very safe form of treatment and side effects are minimal. All needles are single use and sterile and as a result, a certificate can be given to patients who wish to remain blood donors.
If you would like to consider acupuncture as a part of your physiotherapy treatment, please mention it when booking your appointment. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss it with Kathy, she will be happy to do so.
