Treatments

Mobilisation

Using gentle, controlled movements to treat stiff or painful joints, increasing flexibility and reducing pain.

Exercise

The right exercise programme will help to restore and then maintain movement, strengthen the muscles and improve reactions. Either a general programme of exercise such as swimming, walking or cycling, or specific exercises designed to target particular areas of the body.

Ultrasound

A painless procedure, ultrasound works by sending high frequency sound waves through soft tissue and is used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and repair tissue damage.

Massage

Massage works on the soft tissues by improving circulation of the blood, helping to drain accumulated fluid, or by improving movement by relaxation.

Manipulation

Moving the spine, joints or limbs in gentle movements designed to increase mobility and suppleness.

Hydrotherapy

Effective for treating back pain, joint and muscle stiffness, weakness and lack of fitness.

Ice

Ice is used, particularly in the immediate aftermath of an injury, to reduce bleeding within the soft tissues and to limit the effects of swelling such as stiffness and pain.

Heat

Heat may be applied, in the later stages of treatment, to increase circulation to the affected area and so promote healing.

Education

An important part of our work is teaching the patient how to manage their condition, and how changes to their lifestyle may alleviate their symptoms or prevent a reoccurrence.
